The Louisiana state attorney general is looking into the death of a woman who passed away during an evacuation from Huntington Place Senior Community prior to Hurricane Katrina’s landfall. Thelma Wall, a resident of the nursing home, died on an unairconditioned bus used to evacuate occupants from the Chalmette facility, which has been sued for wrongful death four times since the year 2000. Two of the wrongful death lawsuits have been settled, and the others are still pending.
